Open Day

Conveniently situated on Montague Road in Para Vista, South Australia, our school sits behind Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Onsite parking is available via our one-way carpark, and street parking is an option on Montague Road and adjacent streets. For pedestrian safety, please be mindful that our carpark speed limit is 10km/h. 

Open Day is being held on Monday 21 September.

Gates will be open from 9.15am.

To ensure the smooth running of the event, we will begin at 9.30am sharp.

For the safety of our students and staff, we will not be able to accept latecomers after 9.45am.

Open Day concludes approximately 12pm.

Open Day will begin on our school oval. Please follow the signs and enter through our access gate by the Junior Primary Playground and make your way to the school-branded gazebos on the oval where a team member will tick your name off our list and we will take your free hot drink order.

Gates will be open from 9.15am. We will begin promptly at 9.30am. You will have the opportunity to chat and mingle with members of our school leadership team, including;

• Teaching and Learning Leader, Karen Leese
• Senior Primary Leader, Therese Abraham
• Junior Primary Leader, Kate Burton

A member of our school leadership team will then take you in a small group for a guided tour where you will learn more about the spaces throughout our school, see learning in action, and hear from our student leaders as they talk about life at Good Shepherd and chat about the class learning on display.

Following your guided tour, we will all come together in the church where you can collect your free hot drink order, enjoy some yummy nibbles, and hear from Principal Evie Stevens as she provides a short presentation about our school. You will also get to ask her any questions you like at the end of her presentation. 

Finally, our Open Day concludes with an interactive Q&A session with a panel of current parents of our school where you will have the opportunity to ask our families anything you would like to know.

Our Open Day is scheduled to conclude at 12pm. As you exit through the church courtyard our admin team will be available to answer any questions you may have about our enrolment process or any other queries you may have about our school.

We are so excited to open our school up to the community and showcase what makes us so special.

Families in the North-Eastern suburbs of Adelaide interested in primary school options for their child are welcome to register and come along to our Open Day and see what we have to offer.*

You are welcome to bring your child/children with you, though they are to remain under your supervision at all times. 

Good Shepherd Lutheran School Para Vista is an affordable independent primary school for years ELC to Year 6 and services the surrounding suburbs of Para Vista, including but not limited to:

Banksia Park, Gulfview Heights, Highbury, Hope Valley, Ingle Farm, Lightsview, Modbury, Modbury Heights, Modbury North, Para Hills, Para Hills West, Pooraka, Redwood Park, Ridgehaven, St Agnes, Tea Tree Gully, Valley View, Walkley Heights, Windsor Gardens, and Wynn Vale.

*Families interested in touring our ELC are asked to please book and attend one of our regular Principal Tours. These tours are more intimate in size, providing a safer and more emotionally regulated experience for the children of our ELC.

We will have small water bottles available upon arrival.

We are so grateful to have Bunso Coffee providing free hot drink options at the conclusion of our guided tours. You will be able to collect your free hot drink order on the way through to our tour presentation by Principal Evie Stevens in the church.

Free hot drink options available are;

– Flat White
– Hot Chocolate
– Tea
– Milk available; Full cream, skim, soy, oat, and almond

We will also have a large assortment of food platters available, including;

– Vegetarian sandwiches and wraps
– Classic sandwiches and wraps
– Gluten friendly sandwiches
– Gluten friendly cakes
– Fruit skewers
– Iced donuts

*While we are mindful of the concerns of food allergens, as the food is coming from an outside supplier it cannot be guaranteed that there are no allergens present, including gluten, dairy, nuts, eggs and soy.

There will be a unisex bathroom facility available prior to the Open Day guided tours starting. We will also have bathroom facilities available in the church as we move from the guided tours to the presentation by Evie Stevens and the parent interview panel in the church.

Access to student and staff bathrooms will not be available to visitors on the day.

Yes. The day is scheduled to run as follows:

9.15am – Gates open, registration sign in and free hot drink orders taken. Chance to mingle and chat with school leadership team.

9.35am – Housekeeping and safety message.

9.40am – Principal’s welcome.

9.45am – Guided tours with school leadership team, see learning in action, and meet student leaders and explore classroom learning displays showcasing our current students’ work.

10.30am – Nibbles and drinks in the church foyer.

10.40am – Presentation with Principal Evie Stevens

11.10am – Q&A session with Principal Evie Stevens

11.30am – Q&A session with current parents of Good Shepherd

12pm – Event concludes. Administration staff available in the church courtyard to answer any further questions.

For the safety and comfort of our students and staff, we ask that visitors do not take photos or videos using their own devices while attending our school.

We understand that remembering the different schools and their features may be difficult throughout your decision-making process when trying to find the right school for your child, and so you may want to take photos or videos to help you remember what you liked.

To help you, we have engaged the services of a professional photographer and videographer to capture the moments of our Open Day whilst also respecting the safety of our students. These photos and video will be shared with you in the days following our event.
