Our Student Learning Journey
We are a medium-sized school by choice to provide a curriculum that fosters the holistic development of your child as an inquirer. Our robust educational programs ensure continuous support at every stage, celebrating each student as a unique individual cherished by our dedicated teachers.
Good Shepherd Lutheran School embraces both single and multi-age classes, a decision underpinned by our commitment to providing a dynamic and tailored educational experience. All students are valued individually and in each learning journey, and application and effort is celebrated as students are challenged to fulfil their potential.
Our classroom structure is designed to support the diverse learning needs of our students across five distinct stages:
- Early Learning Centre (ELC): Green Team (3-year-olds), Orange and Blue Teams (4-year-olds)
- Foundation (Stage 1): x Three classrooms
- Stage 2: Years 1 & 2 x Five classrooms
- Stage 3: Years 3 & 4 x Five classrooms
- Stage 4: Years 5 & 6 x Five classrooms
In addition to a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, our curriculum provides a wide array of enriching experiences, including Visual and Performing Arts, AUSLAN as a second language, and Physical Education.
Our well-resourced school also offers tailored support for students with diverse learning needs, ensuring that both gifted students and those with learning difficulties are given the opportunity to thrive.
Strong partnerships with families and a safe, comfortable learning environment further enhance our educational offering.
Medium School – Intentional Focus
At a time where the trend in education is towards super-schools, which are larger Foundation to Year 12 campuses, we proudly stand as a deliberately medium-sized primary school with an ELC service. This intentional choice ensures:
- We are specifically tailored to meet the developmental and educational needs of students, providing an environment that is developmentally appropriate for early learners.
- We can create an age-appropriate learning environment that is well-suited to the specific cognitive, social, and emotional needs of younger students.
- A tighter-knit community where students, teachers, and parents can build closer relationships, fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
- The emotional transition of moving between educational stages is less overwhelming in a smaller traditional primary school setting, with focused support ensuring the well-being of children as they progress from reception through to Year 6, and then to secondary school.
- Managing the safety and security of a smaller, more homogeneous student population allows for more effective supervision and risk management.
Seamless Early Learning to Year 12 Journey.
While recognising the benefits of medium-sized schools, we passionately strive for a seamless Early Learning to Year 12 educational pathway.
